School Hurling
We have been involved in primary
school hurling since 1983.
Roll of Honour
Div. 5 runners
up- 1987, 1988 and 1994.
Div. 4 winners- 1995.
Div.2 winners-1996.
We then moved on to the first
division in 1997 and Ennis National, who were eventual winners, beat us
in the semi-final. In 1998 we were yet again beaten in the division 1
semi-final, this time by Ennis C.B.S.
Div. 2 winners - 2000
Div. 1 winners - 2001
2001 will go down in the annals of
our school as an extraordinary year for hurling - the year in which we
reached the pinnacle of schools hurling in Co. Clare by taking the Div.
1 title. In the early rounds we had victories over Tulla, Clarecastle
and Barefield before overcoming Ennis CBS in the semi-final. The final,
against Clonlara, was an outstanding game of hurling. This was the first
occasion on which we sported the famous Pat O'Donnell logo on our
jerseys and we are extremely grateful to Pat for his support.
Crusheen 3-3 Clonlara 2-3
Clonlara were first to score with a
point from Dara Honan. Ciaran O’Doherty, a point, David Moloney, a goal,
Blaine, a point and David McMahon a goal, replied for us before Clonlara
tacked on 2 more points. Ciaran finished the half with a point from a
65. In the second half we were playing against a strong breeze and the
play was even for a long period before Clonlara had a goal and shortly
after levelled with another. The final minutes were as exciting as one
could imagine and then captain Joe Meaney gained possession and rattled
the net with an unstoppable shot. The cup was heading to Crusheen.
