Camogie

The school’s camogie teams have been quite successful in recent years. Our first ever victory was in a Div. 4 final in 1995. In 1997 we were runners-up in a Div. 3 final against O’Callaghan’s Mills and in 1998 we were victorious yet again in a Div. 3 final against Feakle. We lost to Clarecastle in the 2000 decider but made the final again in 2001. This time we were victorious.

Crusheen 3-0 St. Aidan’s Shannon 1-1

Like the hurling game the camogie final was a tense hard-fought game between two even teams. Six minutes had passed before Amanda had our first goal and we were to add two more from Olivia and Carina before Aidan’s had a pointed free midway through the first half. At this stage we appeared to be coasting to victory. Aidan’s had other ideas and they made it really difficult for us in the second half. They had the only score of that half, a goal and there was great excitement as we held out to win our first ever Div. 2 camogie title and Olivia headed up the steps to receive the trophy.
