Principles of Discipline Policy
Our aim is to promote a happy, secure environment in which the children
can develop to their full potential. It is necessary therefore, to provide
a framework which promotes constructive behaviour and at the same time
discourages unacceptable behaviour.
We strive is to ensure that the individuality of each child is accommodated
while acknowledging the right of each child to an education in a disruption
free environment. With a view to achieving this, the school code of
discipline places a greater emphasis on rewards than on sanctions. The
ideal is that each child will acquire self-discipline, which will be
of benefit to them always. There are times however when it may be necessary
to impose sanctions in order to maintain good order and to discourage
offenders.
We recognise the importance of a strong sense of community within
the school. We pride ourselves on the existence of the high level of
co-operation among teachers, ancillary staff, pupils, parents, the Board
of Management and the Parents' Association that we currently enjoy.
