Labelling of School Uniform
Please ensure that your child’s uniform and school tracksuit
is clearly labelled with the child’s name. This will allow easy
identification of school uniforms that are left out in the playground
at break times and will minimise the amount of lost property that
accumulates in the school each year.
Camogie Skills
A
ten week course in camogie skills is currently ongoing every Friday
for girls from 3rd to 6th classes. This course is run by one of our
own past pupils, Carina Roseingrave, ably assisted by Ms O’Grady.
We would like to extend our gratitude to both ladies for sharing their
talents and expertise.
Carina
is on the Clare Ladies Junior Camogie team who were recently triumphant
in the All-Ireland Ladies Junior Camogie Championship Final in Croke
Park. Carina brought the All Ireland Junior Camogie Trophy with her
to show to her many fans here in Crusheen N.S. Here she is photographed
with the girls from 3rd to 6th classes.

the next few weeks.
Green School
Thanks
once again to Noelle Horner for her help and assistance with our organic
garden last school year. We look forward to working with her again
this year. We are currently in the process of digging the weeds and
doing a general tidy up before covering the soil for the winter months.
We hope to go planting again in spring time.
Recycling
Recycling
continues in the school. Boxes are available in each classroom to
collect cards, paper, plastic containers, batteries. Our litter wardens
are out and about regularly to ensure the school grounds are kept
neat and litter free. Please be mindful to keep Crusheen village and
our school tidy and free from litter!

Please
consult with the school calendar when planning your holidays in an
effort to keep pupil absences to a minimum. Whilst 20 days is the
maximum period of absence allowed, 18 days represents 1/10 of a school
year and this would impact greatly on a child’s educational
development. Therefore every effort to ensure full attendance is appreciated.
Please refer to the Education Welfare Act 2000.
Education Welfare Act 2000
The school is obliged by legislation to inform the Education Welfare
Officer when a child has been absent for 20 days in a school year.
If your child is absent from school it is necessary for you to provide
the following information in writing to the class teacher.
• The date(s) in which your child was absent
• The reason for his/her absence
Absence
notes are provided at the back of the Homework Diary, which can be
used if needed.

Supervision
Our school acknowledges that adequate supervision is intrinsic to
the safety of children at school. The teachers accept that they have
a duty of care over pupils during school hours.
The school will be open to receive pupils from 9:10am. No responsibility
is accepted for pupils arriving in the school grounds before this
time. Classes will commence each day at 9.20am. Pupils should arrive
no later than 9.15am.
Classes
will end at 2pm for Junior and Senior Infant classes and 3pm for all
other classes. Please collect children promptly from school at the
appropriate times. The school cannot accept responsibility for the
care of children outside of school finishing times.
A yard supervision roster, which is compiled by Ms Cleary, is in operation
in our school.
Autumn

There will be a clearout of some old pieces of furniture from the
school shed over the next few weeks. Included in the clear out, are
some small Infant chairs and tables which are available for the taking!
