Tribute Night to Breda Galvin/
Harvest Mass

Just a reminder to everyone that the parish’s Thanksgiving Mass and function to thank Mrs Galvin for her many years teaching in Crusheen N.S. will be held at 7pm on Friday 7th November. A reception will be held afterwards in the community hall. All past pupils and everyone in the parish are cordially invited to attend the night’s celebrations. Here at the school we are busy preparing for this special occasion and would like to thank Mrs. O’Leary, who along with Catherine Brigdale and Marie O’Donnell is organising the music for the mass. We are also indebted to Nicola Goodman who is working with Miss Wylde and all the children in decorating the hall with autumnal art for the occasion.

A date to thank Mr Kearney for his contribution to Crusheen N.S. and to acknowledge his involvement in the community over the years has yet to be decided. We will inform you of the details when finalised.

Graduation
Congratulations to Ms Jacinta O’Grady who graduates from Mary Immaculate College of Education, Limerick, this Friday with a Degree in Education.

Garda Visit
We were delighted to welcome local Garda Declan Keavey to the school this Wednesday to meet with the senior classes. He spoke to the children about road safety and on keeping safe over Hallowe’en.

Parents’ Association
We would like to extend our most sincere thanks to all in the Parents’ Association, who organised the bag packing fundraiser in Dunnes Stores on Saturday 27th September. We also thank the other parents, pupils and past pupils who gave of their time in supporting the project. The total amount raised was €3,071. Some of this money will be used to fund the weekly Speech and Drama Classes with Mrs Peggy O’Reilly which the children thoroughly enjoy. We are most appreciative of the work the Parents’ Association do in supporting the school on many levels and look forward to working closely with them during the coming academic year.

RTE Visits the School
Children in First and Second classes were filmed as part of RTE’s ‘Seoige’ afternoon show on Friday, October 10th. The children listened to a story entitled “Lost and Found” and were then invited to comment on the story. The storytelling session was enjoyed by all and we look forward to seeing the children on the show between now and Christmas. Here we have a photo of the children enjoying the story.
