FOOTBALL
Our section of Division 1 of the
Clare Girls' Primary Schools Championship was played in blitz form in
Roslevan on Oct. 10th. With only 16 girls from 3rd to 6th classes our
girls were bound to find the going tough but they battled bravely in
all 3 games. We played Newmarket in the first game, had a goal disallowed
and lost by 3 points. Ennis C.B.S. beat us in the second game. In that
game Sarah Perry scored a goal and Lisa Perrill had a point from a free.
In the last game we lost to Knockaneen. Sinéad O'Doherty played
soundly in goals all through. Aoife Waters was outstanding in the backs
and got good assistance from Fiona O'Rourke, Jannette O'Donnell and
Lisa Perrill. Lisa Gallagher worked tirelessly at midfield while up
front Poppy o'Sullivan,Trudy Perry, Ruth Kearney and Roisin Rodgers
tried hard. All our subs contributed well.
Team: S.O'Doherty, A.Waters, F.O'Rourke, J.O'Donnell, L.Perrill, P.O'Sullivan,
L.Gallagher, T.Perry, R.Kearney, R.Rodgers. S. McNamara. Subs: S.Perry,
A. O'Brien, S. Ní Chianáin, S. Cunningham.

Recycling in full
swing
Now that the Blue Bin (for paper
etc.) has arrived the amount of waste going to our black bin has been
cut dramatically. As part of our green school programme the school is
also a collection point for all types of used batteries. Furthermore,
if you have old telephone directories please send them to school and
we shall arrange recycling.
Vet Visit
Local Veterinary Surgeon, Mr. P.
J. O'Driscoll and his son Barry were most welcome visitors to the school
today. They spoke to all the pupils about caring for pets and answered
numerous questions on this topic. With them they had a selection of
pets, a gerbil, two rabbits, a guinea pig and a canary. This event was
our contribution to World Animal Week and the children loved it.
