HURLING - FIRST
ROUND
The boys had their first outing
against Clooney in Gurteen on Friday last. Clooney were very much on
top in the early stages but a goal by Colin Waters and the introduction
of Martin Ziemelis to full-forward settled our team and we led by 2-1
to 1-3 at half time. Martin was injured just before the break and his
replacement, Stephen Hurley scored 2 goals in the second half. Colin
Vaughan 2-3 (1-1 from frees) was top scorer, and Luke Hayes (0-1) completed
the scoring. Final score was 5-4 to 2-3 for us after a highly exciting
game in which all the boys played excellently.
