Congratulations
Congrats to Lisa Gallagher, 5th
Class, on winning the Clare Museum Website Quiz for April. In this particular
exercise pupils go on-line and search through the artifacts of the museum
for the answers to a set of questions posed on the Clare Education Centre
website. A useful exercise in learning the history and archaeology of
Co. Clare using the internet
Child
Welfare
The Department of Education and
Science has recently introduced Guidelines and Procedures for schools
in relation to Child Protection and Welfare. These guidelines promote
the welfare of all children and are to be welcomed.
Our school has adopted the guidelines
as school policy. Consequently if there is a matter of concern in relation
to abuse of children we are obliged to report this to the local Health
Board. They will assess the case and provide the necessary support for
the child concerned.
School Games
Our school Hurling and Camogie
teams travelled to Clarecastle on the Mon. before the Easter holidays
to play the locals in two first division games and while neither team
was victorious we had two excellent games and much excitement.
All those watching the hurling agreed that this was an exceptional game
with some excellent performances by both sides. In the end, giving away
goals at crucial times proved costly for us as we were beaten by 4-6
to 1-6. At half time we were behind by 2-5 to 1-2, Clarecastle having
scored their second goal just before the whistle. In an excellent spell
in the second half we had four points on the trot before a couple of
late goals sealed our fate. Donal Tuohy had an outstanding game, scoring
1-4, Conor O'Donnell scored 2 points while Padraic Waters and Jason
Daffy were excellent in defence.
While the girls failed to score in their game they battled gamely to
the end. They were up against a much stronger team on the day and trailed
by 3 goals at half-time. Clarecastle added two further goals in the
second half.
On Wed of next week the boys play
Killaloe in Killaloe on Wed. and the girls have Knockanean at home in
a football game on Thursday.

Our First Holy Communion class are busy preparing for their big day,
on May 11th. They are seen here making a presentation to Fr. Bane of
money for Trocaire. Well done to First and Second class for thinking
of others who are in need.
County Trials
Donal Tuohy (Hurling) and Padraic
Waters (Football) are both in the running for places in their respective
Primary Game County teams.
