TONY GRIFFIN CYCLE

Many thanks to the Confirmation & Communion Classes who contributed €300 to the Tony Griffin Foundation for Cancer Research. Tony will finish his marathon cycle in Ennis on Sunday, 1st July. He will be joined by representatives from many Clare schools on the final leg of his journey. Dermot Molony from 6th class will represent our school.

THE BIG WILD READ

Once again Clare County Library's Annual Summer Reading Challenge for children will take place during the months of July & August. Membership cards will be available in all Clare Library Branches from the 1st July, 2007.
Children signing up to take part in "The Big Wild Read" (the theme of this year's challenge) will be given bright and colourful folders to record this summer reading. They will also receive sets of stickers to decorate their folders. Children who complete the Summer Reading Challenge by reading six or more books will receive certificates of merit in September.
We would encourage all children to partake in this wonderful initiative.

READING CHALLENGE

Well done to all the pupils for taking part in the Reading Challenge. A total of 2,991 books were read by the children of the school, an average of 30 books per child.

STAFF APPOINTMENTS

We welcome Mr. Brian Spring who will be Acting Principal in Mr Kearney's absence. Brian, who is from Ennis, is currently on the staff of Ennis C.B.S. and also taught for one year in Holy Family Senior School, also in Ennis. He is a B.Ed. Graduate of Mary Immaculate College where he was also conferred with a Masters in Education. THANK YOU

The staff would like to take this opportunity to thank parents, Board of Management, Parents` Association and all others involved in the life of the school for the help, support and co-operation we have received in the past year.

SUMMER WORK

Various improvement works will be carried out in the school over the summer months. New fencing will be erected behind the portakabins and the line markings on the basketball court will be redone. Inside the school classrooms will be equipped with whiteboards and multimedia projectors. It is also planned to do some interior painting.

INDOOR SHOES

When purchasing indoor shoes for the coming year, we would ask parents to ensure that the shoes have rubber soles.

PENPALS

Well done to the pupils of second class who have been busy all year writing to their pen pals in Stonehall N.S. Many friendships have been made and we encourage the pupils to continue this link with their new friends during the next school year.

BOOK AMNESTY

We would ask all children to look around their homes for any school books and return them to the school in September.
