Camogie & Hurling

Girls Camogie
Bodyke National School 2-0 Crusheen National School 0-0
Our girls put on a brave and wholehearted performance in Bodyke before going down to the home side by 2 goals in the schools' camogie league. The teams were level at half time and it was the greater strength and experience of the Bodyke girls that won through in the end. Our girls improved with every game this year and are already looking forward to next year's competition.
Team: Siobhán McNamara (capt.), Ruth Kearney, Jenny Hansbury, Niamh Moloney, Aine McNamara and Nikola Makulová. Subs: H. Leonard, C. Horner (played), E. Cleary, E. Varley, C. O'Brien, E. Murray, C. Slattery, Carol O'Brien, K.Daffy, R. Pyett & L. McMahon.

Boys Hurling Semi-Final
Last Tuesday our boys hurling team were defeated by Newmarket on a scoreline of 7 : 8 to 3 : 10. The socreline didn't reflect the game as our lads put Newmarket to the pin of their collar in what was a smashing game of hurling. Our boys were slow to settle but once they got into it they hurled with great skill and determination and were ahead at half time by 2 - 6 to 1- 6. The second half was a great battle with the hurling being played at a ferocious speed. However in the final few minutes of the game Newmarket got in for a few goals. Our lads should be proud of themselves as they all hurled with great enthusiasm and pride for the school. The scorers were J. Fitzgibbon 2-5, R. Halpin 1-2, C. O'Loughlin 0-2, L. Hayes 0-1, while C. Vaughan, A. Rodgers, M.Perrill, G. Roseingrave, Y. Horner, S. Loughrey all shone.
Congrats to Rory Halpin who gave an excellent display at full-back for the Clare Primary Game Team against Tipperary in Thurles.

School Uniforms / Tracksuits

A new system is being put in place to deal with this issue. We would ask all parents/guardians to read carefully the letter attached to this Newsletter. At the request of the Parents' Association a tracksuit is being introduced and we are asking that this tracksuit be worn on all occasions when a tracksuit is necessary.

CHARITABLE CHILDREN

We commend the First Communion and Confirmation children for their wonderful generosity at this time. They haven't forgotten those less well off than themselves. The First Holy Communion Class donated €170 to the Belarussian Orphanage Fund and the Confirmation Class gave €150 to Trócaire for water provision in East Africa.
