GAMES REACH
A CLIMAX
Our girls played four
games in the Clare Primary Schools Football Competition in Kilmihil
on Tuesday last. In the first game they were beaten by Kilfenora by
3-2 to 0-0. The second game was much closer. We lost to Labasheeda by
2-2 to 1-1. Lisa Gallagher got both scores. Kilmihil beat us by 1 point
in the third game, 2-3 to 2-2. Lisa Gallagher (1-1), Roisin Rodgers
(1-0), and Aoife Waters (0-1) were our scorers. In the final game we
met Lisdoonvarna, who were the top team on the day. At the final whistle
we were behind by 3-7 to 1-3. Aoife Waters (1-0), Lisa Perrill (0-2)
and Sinead O'Doherty (0-1) were our scorers. Our thanks to Carol O'Donnell
for her help with coaching and training and to Aoife O'Brien (unable
to play due to illness) who took down all the scores.
Team: S.O'Doherty, A.Waters, T.Perry, F.O'Rourke, L.Gallagher, L.Perrill,
R.Rodgers, J.O'Donnell, S.Perry, R.Kearney, H.Grassie
Subs: S.Cunningham, S.Ní Chianain (all played)
Crusheen N.S. 5-8
Killaloe 1-1
We had an easier win then expected over Killaloe in the hurling league.
We led at half time by 3-3 to 0-0.
C. Hayes, (1-0) and C. O'Donnell (2-3) were the scorers. Killaloe's
Kevin Walshe managed a goal and a point for them in the 2nd half but
it wasn't their day. Jason Greene (0-1), C.Hayes (0-2) and C.O'Donnell
(2-2), got our second half scores.
St. Aidan's Shannon 4-5 Crusheen N.S. 2-3
In the last game of the league series, played in glorious sunshine in
Shannon we lost by 2 points to St. Aidan's after a tough game. Both
teams qualify for the semi finals. Playing with a powerful breeze, we
dominated the first half and led by 4-3 to 1-3 at half time. Conor Hayes
had our first score, a goal, Bryan McInerney scored a point and Conor
O'Donnell notched an excellent 3-2. We were under severe pressure all
through the second half and with 2 mins. left Aidan's finally went ahead
when they scored their fourth goal.
Ennis N.S. 2 - 8 Crusheen 3 - 3
In the Division 1 hurling semi-final played in Ruan last week the boys
produced an outstanding performance and were unlucky to be pipped by
a last minute goal. Conor O'Donnell opened the scoring with a point.
Then Ennis N.S. scored 3 consecutive points before Paraic O'Malley crashed
home a goal. Conor had another point and Ennis N.S. had a similar score
to leave us ahead by a point at half time. Ennis N.S. dominated the
early part of the 2nd half and had a goal and four points and looked
to be home and dry. Our boys didn't give up and a goal from Conor Hayes
and 1-1 from Conor O'Donnell put us back in front. In the dying moments
Ennis N.S. got a free when Jason Greene was mysteriously penalised and
they goaled. St. Aidans beat Ennis N.S. by a point in the final.
