BUMPER
HARVEST
Our Garden Committee harvested
our crop of organic vegetables and salad last Friday. The new potatoes
were boiled and a fabulous salad prepared using lettuces, radishes,
chives, scallions and basil all grown by the children. Pupils in 5th
and 6th classes then sat down and enjoyed a healthy and nutritious meal
produced by their own hands. Our sincere thanks to Noelle & Jason
Horner for their guidance and support in this project.
TRIP
TO ORGANIC FARM
The Garden Committee
with Miss Cleary and Dolores visited the Horner's Organic Farm last
Tuesday. It was wonderful to see a variety of vegetables and salads
grown on a very large scale. Jason explained some of the issues and
challenges of the organic farmer and he answered questions on pest control,
crop rotation and G.M. Foods posed by our budding gardeners.
FILM SHOOT
Our two days film shoot for the
Green School D.V.D. on last Thursday and Friday went off very well.
It was a very interesting experience for all involved. Laura Kearney
(producer, director etc.,) of the shoot is at present editing the material.
We look forward to viewing the final draft next September. The D.V.D.
will be launched in the Autumn. We are very grateful to Laura for her
help in developing this project.

Riches of Clare Quiz Winner
Last week in class we answered
the Clare Quiz from the Clare Museum on the Internet. The ten questions
were about famous people and objects of Clare. All the pupils in 5th
and 6th class took part. On Monday morning I received a letter from
the Clare Museum telling me that I was the runner up for June. I received
a book token for €10 to spend at the Ennis Book Shop. I am very
happy to have won.
