Crusheen 2-2 Kilkishen 1-1
Our girls made sure of their place in the County Schools Football semi-finals
after a tough struggle with Kilkishen in wet and windy conditions in
Crusheen recently. Aislinn Dillon opened the scoring for us with a point
after 3 minutes and 5 minutes later Kilkishen levelled the scores. A
few mins. later Aislinn got on the score sheet again when she hit a
pile-driver into the roof of the net to leave us 3 points up at the
break. Midway through the second half Lisa Loughrey won possession at
the edge of the square and found the net to put us further in front.
Aislinn then lashed on another point before Kilkishen scrambled a goal
to put them right back in the game. There were no further scores but
plenty of excitement as the play moved from one end of the field to
the other. This was a great team performance by the girls, especially
in the second half. They will play Cooraclare on this Thur. in Crusheen
at 1 p.m. in a county semi-final play -off.
Congratulations to
Anne Marie McMahon who has won a place in the Clare Primary Schools
Camogie Team.
Surprise Win for
Boys in Hurling Semi Final
Crusheen 3 -6 Ennis N.S. 3 - 4
The school hurling team upset the form book at Ruan on Friday last when
they narrowily beat Ennis N.S. in the Div. 1 semi-final in Ruan. They
will now meet Ennis C.B.S. in the final in Cusack Park on the week beginning
June 16th. This was a great performance by the boys. The foundation
for the victory was laid in a great first half performance. They led
by 2 - 4 to 1 -1 at half time and fought tooth and nail to hold on to
their lead against the wind in the second half.
Well Done!
Donal Touhy gave an outstanding
performance in Pairc Uí Chaoimh when he played in goals for the
Clare Primary Game Hurling Team against Tipperary.
Congratulations to Rea Moloney (5th Class) who was a member of the Clare
Community Games Cross Country Team that won Gold in Mosney at the weekend.
Rea was 4th Clare athlete to cross the finishing line and 19th overall
- a wonderful performance.

Book Week 19th -
22nd May
Our book week was a tremendous success this year. During the week the
children enjoyed a variety of activities which helped to promote a love
for reading and stories:
· Local storyteller, Eddie Lenihan visited the school on Wednesday
21st May and completely enraptured the children with stories of local
interest.
· The infants wrote and made their own books. Pupils in Miss
Brady's class drew a picture of a book character and wrote about it
on the computer. Mrs Galvin's class tallied all the books they had read
during the year and discovered that a fantastic number of books had
been read. Aoife O'Brien was awarded the prize of STAR READER, as she
had read 41 books this year.
· Our Book Fair was a huge success. Over 1200 euro was spent
by parents and children, this meant that the school received 750 euro
worth of books in commission for the classroom libraries.
· The Book Character Parade on Thursday, where the pupils dressed
as their favourite character from a book was undoubtedly the highlight
of the week. All the children made a great effort and appeared in an
array of guises from Harry Potter to Cinderella. There were winners
from every classroom:
Miss O'Keeffe: Susanne Hanrahan, Hannah Leonard & Caoimhe Horner
Miss Brady: Ruaidhrí O'Cianain, Danny Moloney & David Kearney
Mrs. Galvin: Jamie Fitzgibbon, Sinéad O'Doherty & Conor O'Loughlin
Mr. Kearney: Poppy O'Sullivan, Brian Rodgers & Padraic Waters
Once again we would like to thank
the pupils and parents for their support throughout the week.
