Comhghairdeas
Congrats to Fiona
O'Rourke (rang V1) who was a recent winner in the Clare Education Centre
Museum Quiz. For this quiz pupils had to go on the Internet and research
answers to questions on local history. Answers were to be found at the
Clare Museum and Clare Library websites.
What makes a
good photo!

5th and 6th class
pupils have been trying their hands at taking digital photos and writing
about them. To get them started they were given a very interesting and
truly inspiring presentation by local photographer, Christy McNamara,
whose reputation in his field has spread far beyond these shores. Christy
showed the pupils a selection of photos from his web site and explained
where they were taken and what motivated him to take them. He also brought
along various cameras he uses and gave each pupil a present of one of
his prints.
Musicians in
school

On the 14th January we were very
lucky to have had two top class traditional musicians playing for us.
Kevin Crawford who plays flute and Mike Considine who plays bowzouki
entertained us for an hour with a selection of tunes. They also told
us about their instruments. Kevin plays with the very popular group
Lúnasa over Christmas who were on a break form touring and Mike
has recently returned from New Zealand where he lived for a number of
years. Thanks to Kevin and mike for making the time to visit our school.
We really enjoyed the visit.

the guidance of their teacher Miss Brady, have begun their preparations
for their big day, which is the 23rd of April. They had their enrolment

a sincere thank you to everyone involved.

Indoor Hurling
On Tuesday last a group of 3rd
and 4th class boys competed in an indoor hurling tournament hosted by
Ennis C.B.S. National School. The boys gave a good account of themselves.
In the first game they faced the Gaelscoil and after putting up a good
show got narrowly defeated. In the second game they faced a very strong
and eventual winners Ennis C.B.S. team and despite competing well fell
short at the end. In the third game they faced neighbours Tulla and
in a fiercely contested game it ended in a draw. The boys really enjoyed
the day and they all gave it their best.
Green Schools
Many thanks to all who brought
used Christmas cards, stamps and batteries to the school. In all over
2000 cards have been brought to the library in Ennis for recycling.
We have sent off another box of batteries to return batteries and have
collected over 1500 stamps. Please keep up the good work and thanks
to Sarah and Fiona for collecting and counting stamps and cards.
