MUSIC IN THE CLASSROOM
Classes from Senior Infants to
4th class inclusive will travel to Leisureland, Salthill on Wednesday
morning next to attend the Music in the Classroom concert performed
by the RTE Concert Orchestra. This is a unique opportunity for the children
to see a live orchestral performance and is part of the school music
programme. A coach will leave the school at 8.40 a.m. sharp and will
return after lunch. The concert and coach will cost a total of €5,
money to be paid by next Tuesday. This figure has been subsidised by
school funds. Due to the early start the school bus will collect children
a half an hour earlier than usual and we hope that this will not inconvenience
parents/guardians too much.
Mr. Philip Gaston, a musician from Maoin Cheoil an Chláir will
visit Miss Brady's class on Monday January 19th to help construct percussion
instruments using waste materials. Pupils in 1st and 2nd classes are
asked to collect plastic bottles, old pringle cans and any other container
they feel would be useful for making shakers/maracas etc. Philip will
help the children to compose environmental slogans and beat rhythms
using their new instruments. We would like to thank the Environmental
Section of Clare County Council for sponsoring this project.
TRANSFER TO SECONDARY SCHOOL
At this time of year sixth class
pupils and their parents/guardians have to decide on a secondary school
of their choice. Generally our pupils transfer to schools in Ennis,
Gort and Tulla and application forms for the various schools will be
available in the coming weeks. Some secondary school Principals come
and talk to the sixth class pupils.
NATIONAL CHILDREN'S
