BOOK WEEK
Book week 2005 was a very successful
and enjoyable week here in the school with the children involved in
a variety of books related activities.
These activities included:
· Buddy Reading
· Visit from an author
· Share a book
· Book reviews
· Art activities
· Musical books
· Book character parade
Read - Succeed
At the beginning of the Book Week we set ourselves a target of reading
500 books in the school. The children documented all books read in their
Book Week Reading Cards and when the number of books read was totalled
we found that 598 books had been read that's over 7 books per child
or one book a day per child for the week, so well done to all our avid
readers.
Book Character Parade
Without a doubt the highlight of the week was the Book Character Parade
on Friday, February 11th. Once again the children made huge efforts
with characters ranging from the Queen of Hearts, to Harry Potter to
James Bond. We were delighted that every child made and effort and it
was very difficult to choose winners from the variety and colour of
the characters on parade.

The books are being covered and stamped at the moment and will be in
all classrooms by the end of the week. A special thank you to Christine
and Dolores for running the Book Fair.
Visit by Children's Author:
Mary Murphy, children's author visited both Miss O'Keeffees and Miss

to the stories through art. They produced some lovely paintings and
drawings, which are now displayed in their classrooms.
