Class News December 2011
Miss O’ Connell’s class really enjoyed getting ready for Christmas. We made Christmas cards and Miss Wylde came to our room to do art also.
In English our class were working on procedural writing by discussing orally the steps in playing games. Some of the games we played in the halla included Jack Frost.
We prepared many poems and acted them out;

Doctor Foster went to Gloucester
In Drama , we pretended to be Doctor Foster and Miss O'Connell pretended to be Jenny.We also listened to lovely stories being read to us by 3rd class when they visited us for buddy reading.We listened to a lot of Christmas stories.The one about Pip the mouse was great and we loved “ The Night Before Christmas”.
We made the shapes of our favourite toys and talked about the gifts we would give some-one special.
We went to see a play about Rudolph in Danlann an Chláir on Tuesday , December 16th.It was fun to travel on the bus with our friends.
For PE, we were so lucky to have the parents help us every week at improving our hurling and camogie skills.
In Irish we learned a lot of new vocabulary including
· Crann Nollag – Christmas tree
· Cáca Nollag – Christmas cake
· Daidí na Nollag – Santa Claus
· Cad is ainm duit? – what is your name?
In Geography, we talked about the weather and how important it is to dress for the winter weather.We learned many Christmas songs and the one we really liked was “Here comes Santa Claus”.
We thought about the things that Mary and Joseph might have packed for their journey to Bethlehem and we drew the items.David Kearney was on work experience and he helped us with many activities.
